WHAT ARE KOTKA?
Kotka are a species of large, feline like creatures. They are well equipped for their home in the treetops of Ninguerra, with dextrous hands on their front limbs, and powerful hind legs perfect for powerful leaps.
All Kotkas shed their sleek coats for dense, warm winter coats as the days become shorter.
Kotka are very intelligent creatures. They create tools, and have complex societies, religion and cities. They are also incredibly curious, and as such can be accurately describes as 'clever dumbasses'. Similar to the felines they so much resemble most Kotka are more clever and curious than is good for them, often getting into ridiculous and dangerous situations in their attempts to explore their world.
Kotka living in the trees build complex cities between branches, hollowing out sections of the massive trunks, and string bridges through the canopy to avoid the dangers of the forest floor.
A collection of Kotka are known colloquially as a 'floof'.
Both adult and infant Kotka can be called kits or kittens, but it generally refers to babies.

KOTKA BREEDS
ARBOREAL KOTKA
The smaller and more common breed of Kotka. Arboreal Kotka are less specialised than the Tundra variant, and as such are found across all biomes in the world.
Arboreal Kotka stand at around 190CM at the shoulder. This varies depending on the individual.
Arboreal Kotka sport a sleek, slim build. Their fur length and density depends on the season, but a sleek coat is the norm, especially for those Arboreal Kotka living close to the equator.

TUNDRA KOTKA
A variant of Kotka originating from a small group that moved to the arctic tundra, finding safety in homes dug into cliff faces and an abundance of fish in the sea. They have developed thick fur, larger bodies, and a few individuals even display webbing between their toes.
Tundra Kotka stand around 220CM at the shoulder. This varies depending on the individual.
Tundra Kotka have a heavier build. Not only do their store more subcutaneous fat, they protect themselves from the cold with dense, long fur. As with Arboreal Kotkas the length and density of their coat depends on the season. Many Tundra Kotka lose the majority of their thick fur in summer.
